Things improved when iTunes updated with the new Grid view, where I could easily scan album covers, but it's still not perfect. The ratings logic hasn't changed much, and while I can sorta rate albums individually, the ability to make playlists based on those ratings is lacking. I tried out Songbird, which isn't bad, but it suffered from some of the same problems. The plugin framework seems promising for some enterprising developer to step in and address that, but that developer is not me. So here's hoping other people are having the same problem. I listen to RADIO. And the surprising thing is, I actually enjoy it. I guess after listening to shitty songs by Boston, Foreigner, Ratt, Poison, Peter Gabriel, and then finally hearing Jimi Hendrix or CCR, radio sounds pretty good. The other day, I popped in Britney Spears' first album. I had forgotten how solid that was from front to back. The focus is a great single. The single is what drives sales. The majority of the bands you listen to (or have had ruined) came from a time (or are a rare exception to current music) where the focus was on making a really good album. But I hear where you're coming from; I've been a shuffler for a long time. Since I got a new job where I can listen to my own music, I'm finally getting around to some mp3 cd's a friend made me.
